TAXES IN SPAIN
Many Spaniards consider taxes necessary, but they lack transparency.
According to a CIS study, half of Spaniards consider taxes essential for society.
However, more than 80% believe the government does not adequately explain how the money is spent; only 18% feel well informed.
Taxes are acceptable as long as they are fair: The majority of Spaniards are willing to pay taxes as long as the system is fair and transparent.
There is broad support for increasing funding for health, education, and poverty reduction. Many also believe that large corporations and the wealthy should contribute more and that tax evasion should be more rigorously combated.
