NEW DNA RESEARCH CASTES DOUBT ON COLUMBUS' ITALIAN ORIGINS
New DNA research from the University of Granada casts doubt on Columbus' Italian ancestry.
Genetic analysis of his remains and those of his son points to Spain rather than Genoa, suggesting possible Sephardic roots. This would explain why he concealed his past during the Inquisition and why he always wrote in Spanish. Although DNA defines regions rather than exact cities, the theory of Columbus' Spanish origins is gaining scientific weight over historical tradition.
