Description
Guadalest is a spectacular historical village in the interior of the Costa Blanca North, which is uniquely carved out of the rocks above a deep valley.
The history of the village dates back to the Moorish period in the eleventh century, where the strategic location of the San José castle served as an impregnable fortress against invaders. The climate is Mediterranean but noticeably cooler than on the coast, providing refreshing mountain air and pleasant temperatures during the warm summer months in the province of Alicante.
The main attractions are the iconic white bell tower on the cliff face and the access tunnel carved through the mountain to reach the old center. The local gastronomy is robust and authentic with traditional dishes such as "Olleta de Blat" and local honey, which are served in atmospheric restaurants with a panoramic view over the reservoir. Although there are no golf courses in the village itself, the location is a short drive from the exclusive golf resorts near the coast of Altea and Benidorm.
The residents form a small, proud community that is closely linked to the traditions of the village and welcomes the daily flow of visitors from all over the world. The surroundings are characterized by steep mountain peaks, dense pine forests, and the azure water of the Guadalest reservoir which forms a stunning contrast with the gray limestone. Living in Guadalest offers unique advantages, including unparalleled tranquility in a historical setting, a healthy natural living environment, and the luxury of a spectacular view that inspires every single day.
