Description
Teulada is a charming historical municipality on the Costa Blanca North that, together with the coastal town of Moraira, forms one administrative unit in the heart of the Marina Alta.
The history of the village dates back to the thirteenth century after the reconquest by King James I, where the inhabitants settled inland to protect themselves against the constant threat of Barbary pirates. The climate is Mediterranean and mild with more than three hundred sunny days per year, providing an ideal environment for the cultivation of the famous Muscat grapes in the surrounding valleys.
The main attractions are the fortified Gothic church of Santa Caterina and the modern auditorium, an architectural masterpiece that forms a brilliant contrast with the narrow streets of the old center. The local gastronomy celebrates the traditions of the land with typical dishes such as "Putxero de polp" and the sweet Mistela wine, which are served in authentic local taverns and refined restaurants in the rolling surroundings. Although Teulada itself does not have a large golf course, the exclusive Ifach Golf Club is just a few minutes away, allowing sports enthusiasts to enjoy a game with a view of the rock of Calpe.
The residents form a close-knit and welcoming community where traditional Spanish village culture still goes hand in hand with a modern, international lifestyle. The surroundings are characterized by extensive vineyards, almond trees, and green hills that provide a soothing counterpoint to the nearby tourist bustle of the coast. Living in Teulada offers significant advantages, including an authentic Spanish living experience, lower real estate prices than directly by the sea, and a strategic location between the cities of Alicante and Valencia.
