Description
Guardamar del Segura is a unique coastal town on the Costa Blanca South, which owes its name to the Segura River that flows into the Mediterranean here. The history of the city is impressive and dates back to the Phoenicians and Romans, but the current cityscape was formed after a devastating earthquake in 1829. The climate is typically Mediterranean with mild temperatures throughout the year, which has promoted the growth of the famous extensive pine forests and dunes on the coastline.
The main attractions are the beautiful Alfonso XIII park with its walking paths and the spectacular eleven kilometers of sandy beaches that are among the most beautiful in Spain. The local gastronomy is known for the "Ñora" (a dried pepper) and the fresh shrimp from the local bay, which are served in excellent seafood restaurants on the boulevard. Although there is no golf course in the city center itself, the top courses of La Marquesa and La Finca are located just a ten-minute drive away.
The residents are a mix of Spanish families who have lived here for generations and an international community that appreciates the authentic atmosphere of the city. The surroundings are characterized by a special ecosystem of dunes, lagoons, and the river mouth, which makes it a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. Living in Guardamar offers numerous advantages, such as a healthy living environment in nature, a vibrant village life, and the perfect balance between peace and modern facilities.
