Description
La Manga del Mar Menor is a unique spit on the Costa Cálida that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor, the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe.
The history of this strip began as a series of volcanic islands that were connected over the centuries by sand deposits into its current form. The climate is exceptionally favorable with very mild temperatures and high humidity, which has a therapeutic effect for people with joint problems or respiratory issues.
The main attractions are the Tomas Maestre marina and the natural mud baths of Lo Pagán which are known for their medicinal properties for the skin. The local gastronomy is entirely focused on the sea with famous dishes such as "Caldero del Mar Menor" and fresh sea bream served in the numerous fish restaurants along the quay. For golfers, the nearby La Manga Club is a legendary destination, as this resort offers three world-class championship courses in a beautiful undulating landscape.
The residents form a lively mix of Spanish vacationers and an international community that enjoys the unique maritime lifestyle throughout the year. The surroundings are characterized by extensive sandy beaches on both sides of the spit and the proximity of the pristine Calblanque natural park with its rugged cliffs. Living in La Manga offers many advantages, including the luxury of being able to choose between two different seas every day, a constant sea breeze, and an unparalleled view of the sunset over the water.
