Description
Benalmádena is one of the most diverse municipalities on the Costa del Sol, which is uniquely divided into the traditional mountain village Benalmádena Pueblo, the bustling Arroyo de la Miel, and the tourist coastal strip.
The history of the place is deeply rooted in antiquity with traces of the Phoenicians and Romans, but the name itself dates from the Moorish period and probably means "children of the mines". The climate is Mediterranean and extremely mild, where the proximity to the sea and the protection of the mountains ensure more than 300 sunny days per year.
The main attractions are the award-winning marina Puerto Marina, the fairy-tale Colomares Castle, and the impressive Buddhist Stupa that towers high above the coastline. The local gastronomy offers a rich variety of flavors, from fresh "pescaíto frito" in the chiringuitos on the beach to refined international dishes in the countless restaurants of the harbor. For golfers, the municipality is an excellent choice, as it is home to the famous Torrequebrada Golf, one of the most iconic and technically challenging courses in the region.
The residents form a vibrant mix of local Spanish families and a large international community who greatly appreciate the excellent facilities and the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city. The surroundings are characterized by the steep slopes of the Sierra de Mijas and the expansive parks such as Parque de la Paloma, where one can enjoy nature right in the middle of the city. Living in Benalmádena offers many advantages, including a perfect balance between relaxation and entertainment, a central location near Málaga airport, and a very high quality of life for all ages.
